Clinical Theatre - Internship and Externship
Begins Spring 2011, Wednesdays, 8:00pm - 9:00pm

CLINICAL THEATRE

Conducted in a small class setting, Clinical Theatre gives the students exposure and first hand experience at Medical Qigong diagnoses and treatments. This is a hands on experience where the different aspects of energetic dysfunctions and symptom manifestations are studied and experienced by the Medical Qigong students. Through the careful guidance of the Instructor, the Medical Qigong students will assist in all phases of diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives: After completing Clinical Theatre courses, Medical Qigong students will be confident in diagnosing and treating patients, as well as creating and maintaining accurate clinical records.

In the clinical theatre environment, the student is expected to keep complete histories on patients which include patient histories, treatments, and prescription exercises. The "Patient Intake" and "Clinic Log" forms are available in the Tai Chi room.

Previous to completing certification for MQP, MQT, and MMQ, the student must provide copies of clinic log (verifying clinic hours), a sample of patient histories, and case studies (samples will be provided later).

INTERNSHIP

In the first phase of internship, the Medical Qigong student will work as part of a Qigong treatment team, assisting a senior intern. In the second phase of internship, the Medical Qigong student will work with their own patients, under the supervision of the instructor. Clinical Internship takes place on Wednesday evenings in the Tai Chi room at Natures Path Center.

Objectives: After completing Clinical Internship, Medical Qigong students will have received their highest level of Medical Qigong patient care guidance prior to completing the program.

Required Internship Hours:
Medical Qigong Practitioner (MQP) - 24 Hours
Medical Qigong Therapist (MQT) - 24 Hours
Masters of Medical Qigong (MMQ) - 24 Hours

EXTERNSHIP

In the clinical externship, the academic and theoretical knowledge gained in the medical qigong courses gets put into practical application. The student should begin to treat their own patients to gain clinical experience. As the student gains experience and attends more advanced courses their knowledge and abilities will increase as will their abilities to diagnose and treat more challenging cases. In addition to supervised Clinical Internship hours, the student is required to complete Clinical Externship hours. These hours may be met through treatments offsite in the student's own clinical setting or at the Wednesday evening Clinical setting at Nature's Path Center.

Objective: The objective is for the student to become confident in diagnosing and treating patients, as well as creating and maintaining accurate clinical records.

Required Externship Hours:
Medical Qigong Practitioner (MQP) - 48 Hours
Medical Qigong Therapist (MQT) - 36 Hours
Masters of Medical Qigong (MMQ) - 206 Hours
